2. ÒHave you killed the rats ?Ó said the Mayor. ÒYes, I have,Ó said the piper. ÒGive me the promised money,Ó ÒHow funny!Ó said the Mayor. We cannot give you so much money. Take only fifty .Ó
Answer : The Mayor asked the Piper if he (p) had killed the rats. The Piper replied in the affirmative that he had killed the rats and also requested him (M) to give him (p) the promised money. The Mayor exclaimed with wonder that it was very funny. He (M) also said that they could not give him (p) so much money and offered him to take only fifty.

3. ÒWhatÕs your programme after the examination?Ó asked Salam. Kamal said, ÒIÕve not yet decided. Can you suggest any?Ó ÒLet us go on a picnic,Ó said Salam. ÒWhat an excellent ideal I shall certainly join you,Ó said Kamal.
Answer : Salam asked Kamal what his (K) programme was after the examination. Kamal replied that he (K) had not decided till then. He (K) asked Sala if he (S) could suggest any. Salam proposed that they should go on a picnic. At this Kamal exclaimed with joy that it was an excellent idea and ensured that he (K) would certainly join him (S).
4. The teacher said to the students, ÒWhy are you making a noise? You should behave yourself and read attentively. You must obey your teachers.Ó The students said, ÒWe are sorry sir. We will read attentively.Ó
Answer : The teacher asked the students why they were, making a noise and told them that they should behave themselves and read attentively. He added that they must obey their teachers. The students respectfully replied that they were sorry and also promised that they would read attentively.
